Holy Grail of Liquid Liners: KVD Tattoo Liner

Kat Von D’s products have never ceased to amaze me. They always prove to be of great quality and do exactly what is claimed all while being free of animal-derived ingredients and cruelty-free. Bear with me this post is long but I promise it to be highly informative.

KVDs liquid tattoo liner is no different, it is the holy grail of all liquid liners… no joke you can not be disappinted with this product. I used to like to switch it up between a few brands and hated felt tip liners but this product has changed all that. I rarely use any other black liner than this and unlike most felt tip liners it does not fray.

The innovative marker-like design makes it really use to use for an effortless and precise application. I must admit I struggled with getting a good wing before, up until this product it would take me 3 or 4 tries, ruining all my eyeshadow and a good 15 minutes just to get them even and ok. Now that I use this liner my wings are done and perfectly pointed in the first try, it really is an amazing product and perfect for anyone from beginners to professionals.

Here is a swatch of the liner, as you can see it is highly pigmented. The claims on it is that it “waterproof liner that stays put all day for a fade-, melt-, crack-, and run-resistant finish.” This is why it has taken me so long to do a blog on this product, I needed to put all of these claims to a test and they are completely accurate. I put it on at 7am and don’t take my makeup off until 8 pm after the little one is gone to sleep and it looks the exact same at 8pm as it did right after I put it on. No cracks, no fading, no missing wing tips, no smudges, it looks just as perfect. The one claim that is on the edge is it’s water resistant. Is it water resistant? Yes it will withstand water without fading or running IF you do not tear at your eyes, rub them excessively or any of that. I can show with this liner on and as long as I don’t touch my eyes my mascara is everywhere but this liner is not (yes I did try). So to me it is waterproof but to those who are always at their eyes might say otherwise.

A feature some people love and other may not like is how fast it dries, and being as great of a product that it is you have to get your mistakes (if any) right away, ELFs makeup remover pen is GREAT for quickly fixing that kind of thing. A plus side to how quick it dries is that you do not have to worry about it transferring to anywhere else on your lids.

Last thing I want to touch on is how far this product goes for its price. It is $19 USD or $23 CAD. Does that seem expensive for a liner? Yeah I guess to majority it does. I bought this product 4.5 months ago and it is still going strong and not even close to drying out and I wear it every day. That it only $4.22 USD or $5.11 a month so far for this product OR to break it down even more $0.14 USD a day $0.17 or CAD a day. Those numbers are going to get lower and lower because this product is still lasting me.

In the end it is a great investment, you save some money because a little goes a long way.

Pros: Long wearing, staying power, waterproof, smudge free, easy to use, highly pigmented, precise application, dries quick, crack free, fade resistant, melt free, run resistant

Cons: Price? (kind of not really due to how long it lasts)

Have you tried this product? I would love to hear your experience with it so let me know in the comments below!

  1. Great post, super informative! I got a sample of it from Sephora and have really enjoyed it. I am horrible at wings but this product does make it so much easier. I really need to get the full sized one!

  2. Great review! I honestly thought it was more expensive! Lol. I love how thin it is! I may get it when I run out of mine, although I must say, I really like NYX, so the one I have is actually working perfectly fine for me lol

  3. Hi,
I’ve never heard of this product.
I met you on Danny Ray’s site. Congratulations on being his featured blogger. I was his featured blogger too! Maybe you can check out my blog if you need a blogging tip or two. That’s what I write about.
